From the Boys HS Coach

Youth Coaches,

Each year we see exciting and new growth within our youth hockey program at all ages from Try Hockey for Free participants up through our most highly talented players. This growth is also seen in each player’s love of the game. As their coaches, you are the ones that have made and will make this happen! Last March the boys high school team completed a historic run culminating with our first birth in the MSHSL State Tournament. Each of the 20 young men on that roster have their youth hockey coaches to thank for teaching them, encouraging them and challenging them to get better every day. Thank you for the time, energy, passion and love of hockey you share with your players every day! Go Tigers!

From the Girls HS Coach

Tiger Coaches-

Thank you so much for all the hard work that you are putting into the Tiger Youth Program. The work you are doing is so important not only in the development of our players, but the impact you can have on them long term. As a program, we are dedicated to the development of skill, and the progress of the players as athletes and as people. Thanks to your hard work, we can achieve it. We should always strive to teach the game, as well as push them to be better when they leave the ice, than when they came on it. You are all so appreciated by your community and the whole Tiger Family. Together we can continue to grow this program into a great and sustainable success!

Use the PDF below to log-in and get started. The level leaders have been instructed on how to use this software, if you have any questions at all on how to use this please reach out to coach vanBergen (gerrit.vanbergen@delanoschools.org).

Let's Work Skills

"Everybody loves to win. We want to win as much as we can, but if I'm not helping our players get better, I'm not doing my job. If I'm not helping them grow as men, I'm not doing my job, and that certainly applies to youth organizations." - Jeff Blashill, Head Coach Detroit Red Wings

Wondering what kinds of drills to run after your station work? Keep in mind: Game, Race, or Chase. If your next drill involves one of those elements you're accomplishing a lot.
- Steve Meyers

"Every practice plan we build should have 4 key elements...fun, competition, agility/body contact and defined skill development.  All of these elements need to be presented to the players in game like situations.  Speed, utilization of small space, decision making and freedom/creativity need to be present at all times."
-Dave Hargarten

Drill Videos

-Example drills to incorporate into practices

-The vast majority of these drills can be incorporated into stations
