COACHING REQUIREMENTS - ALL POTENTIAL COACHES FOR THE 2024-2025 HOCKEY SEASON
It is extremely important for our coaching volunteers to become certified each season. Steps 1-3 below MUST be met before a coach can be rostered and be on the ice with their team. If you have not completed Steps 1-3 you cannot be on the ice or behind the bench for an on-ice team event.
Steps 4 should be completed as soon as possible. Step 5 must be complete by December 31.
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. Certification is also required. A few basic steps requirements are as follows:
USA Hockey Requirements (Must be completed before participating in any team activities)
Step 1: Register as a member of USA Hockey. (Cost is $46 plus any affiliate fees if applicable). Click here for more information.
Step:2 Complete the background screening. Click here.
Step 3: Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training. (Required every year and cannot be added to a roster until completed). Click here for more information. (Coaches will need to create/log in to their profiles, click the link under the home tab to the coach eLearning site.)
Step 4: Complete the Foundations of Player Development Pre-requisite. (Coaches will need to complete the Foundations of Player Development module before purchasing their age-specific module. Once a coach completes the Foundations of Player Development module there will be a 15-minute window before they can purchase and complete their age-specific module).
- Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching. (Cost is $20 per module and only needs to be completed once per age level. Must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed) Click here to register for the modules.
Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic Requirements (Must be completed by Dec. 31 each season)
Step 5: Find, register and attend the required certification clinic. The Cost is $60. You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches start at Level 1. You can take clinics from April 1-Dec. 31 each season. Click here to locate a clinic.
Messages from our High School Coaches
FROM THE BOYS HS COACH
Youth Coaches,
Each year we see exciting and new growth within our youth hockey program at all ages from Try Hockey for Free participants up through our most highly talented players. This growth is also seen in each player’s love of the game. As their coaches, you are the ones that have made and will make this happen! Last March the boys high school team completed a historic run culminating with our first birth in the MSHSL State Tournament. Each of the 20 young men on that roster have their youth hockey coaches to thank for teaching them, encouraging them and challenging them to get better every day. Thank you for the time, energy, passion and love of hockey you share with your players every day! Go Tigers!

FROM THE GIRLS HS COACH
Tiger Coaches-
Thank you so much for all the hard work that you are putting into the Tiger Youth Program. The work you are doing is so important not only in the development of our players, but the impact you can have on them long term. As a program, we are dedicated to the development of skill, and the progress of the players as athletes and as people. Thanks to your hard work, we can achieve it. We should always strive to teach the game, as well as push them to be better when they leave the ice, than when they came on it. You are all so appreciated by your community and the whole Tiger Family. Together we can continue to grow this program into a great and sustainable success!
